Great Films Worth Seeing - Love Happens, The Informant, Whip It

Fall is upon us and there are 112 films to choose from. Here is a smaller selection that should be worth the inflated price of admission and the hefty concession fees.

The house is riding on Love Happens starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart because the rash of reality dating shows (Holidate, The Bachelor, and More to Love to name a few) are failing to deliver the fairytale ending promised. Therefore, a good love story for the walking wounded is just what the doctor ordered. Burke Ryan (Eckhart) is a widower who reinvents himself as a self-improvement expert. Although, he successfully aids other he’s secretly recoiling from life as he struggles to cope with his lost. On a stopover in Seattle, he encounters Eloise (Aniston) a florist, who is use to dating guys with expiration dates written on their forehead. Fortunately, she jolts him back to life. Something his best-selling platitudes were unable to accomplish. Will this encounter provide the love rush the masses are craving? On September 18th, audiences will see if it will deliver the happily-ever-after ending yearned for.

The Informant And Fame

Also for September: The Informant starring Matt Damon is a nonfiction account of Mark Whitacre, an executive of Archer Daniels Midland who helped the FBI uncover a price-fixing scheme at the company. Release date: September 18

Fame A 25 million dollar remake of the 1980 musical. The storyline of wannabe high school students at a New York City performing arts institute has been updated for current times. Laden with hip-hop remixes the students now pursue careers in rap and filmmaking. September 25 will tell if anyone will remember any of their names.

Rehearsal Footage from Michael Jackson's London Shows

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment will release the rehearsal footage of Michael Jackson’s London tour on October 28. The documentary entitled This Is It will provide fans with a front-row seat for the preparation of the King of Pop’s final concert, along with behind-the-scene footage captured in high definition, select sequences in 3-D and interviews with Jackson’s closet friends and creative collaborators. Amelia and Whip It Debut Also

Also in October: Amelia starring Hilary Swank as the iconic aviator Amelia Earhart who in 1937 disappeared over the Pacific in a historic attempt to fly around the world. Release date: October 23

Drew Barrymore makes her directorial debut with Whip It chronicling the fast pace and aggressive world of female roller derby skaters. The film stars Elle Page from Juno fame as an outcast high school student who finds her true calling by lapping, elbowing, and punching members from opposing teams as they circle around an oval track. Release date: October 2.
